Philippines 2024

Jonathan Moore

It is official. We leave on a jet plane September 3rd, to start our journey to Iloilo. Our tickets have been purchased. From Jacksonville, we will fly to New York, then to Taiwan, from Taiwan to Cebu, and Cebu to Iloilo. We will travel around 10,000 miles ONE-WAY. Our family of five will spend SIX MONTHS in the Philippines.

We have all the feelings. So much of those feelings are excitement. There is some nervousness coupled with some sadness about missing our friends and family but we KNOW this is what the Lord is calling us to do.

This is our first time being sent to the field. It is hard to leave our whole world behind but we really feel a shift in our lives happening. It reminds us of the scripture in Isaiah 43:19, that says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing: now it springs forth, do you not perceive it.”

Well, we perceive. All of this is new for us. We have new jobs, new vision, a new country to experience, new people to build relationship with, a new church to serve, and a whole new way of life. We will also have new colleagues to work with and get to know.

We will be joined by another family and one single person in our internship. All of us will be welcomed into a well established home base in Iloilo. Some of our Go To Nations missionaries have been there for 20 years. It will be a great training ground for us. During our internship, we will learn how to effectively fulfill the Great Commission.

Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”

We want to tell the world. The Timothy internship will equip us with tools and methods to reach the lost around the globe with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

While we are in Iloilo, we will be trained how to minister to the urban poor, the children of Iloilo and much more. We will also be TEACHING the community development portion of the internship where will be building an aquaponics system.

Prayerfully, we will return to the Philippines later in 2025 for a short term mission to continue ministering and developing sustainable food systems. Keep an ear out if you want to go with us!
