Teaching the Gospel in the Garden
We are the MOORE FAMILY! Missionaries with GoToNations. We live and work at Eden Gardens farm in Jacksonville, Fl. Eden Gardens is a 120 acre eco farm & the American based project of GloDev, (short for Global Development ) . GloDev, the relief and developement arm of GoToNations, is a non profit public charity goes into impoverished places (seeks out the poorest regions in the world) to to partner and develop sustainable projects that empower nationals to provide a better life for their families.
Now let me ask you a question. Do you know how many children today in the United States do not eat 3 square meals a day? An estimated 9 million. 1 in 8 children face hunger on a daily basis not knowing where their next meal is coming from. How many people go without food around the world? 815 million people worldwide do not have enough food to eat. Over 10% of our population. It is estimated that 45% of all childhood death around the world is due to malnutrition.
So what Are we doing at Eden Gardens to change this? We have a Vision to bring food security to 1000 people a day. We continue training and empowering people in our community to grow their own food. We are also developing “work for food” programs for those in need that will not just give them a hand out but a hand up. We understand Education is key in ending the poverty cycle.
other goal at Eden Gardens is to train and equip missionaries to bring sustainable farming projects to nations. We primarily do this through Aquaponics, a method of growing fish & plants together in water. We currently have these sustainable projects in 16 nations. Over 200 people have been trained in aquaponics at Eden Gardens.
We believe if we can educate children and communities in providing food for themselves we will break the curse of generational poverty and produce real and lasting social change.
But it doesn’t stop there. Did you know that It is hard, maybe even impossible, for someone to receive spiritual food if their body is starving of physical food? But when their bellies are full they physically, their spiritual hunger begins to be realized. We want to fill that need. There is no better classroom to teach the word than within creation itself. while teaching these principles of growing food in a physical garden we can also disciple people in the ways of the Lord, winning souls for Christ right there in the dirt. These are things that can be taught from early childhood and beyond. We want to gather the people of the community together, guide them in methods and discipleship, and grow them in the ways of the Lord. We believe this can and will change generations.
The aim is to bring the local community and the farm together by creating a garden that attracts those interested in organic farming and sustainability, including those who may not typically attend church.
Our goal is to create effective training programs for both local and global missionaries. We aim to teach the principles of the gospel while working hand in hand in the garden.
Our objective is to train missionaries who are travelling to other countries in sustainable practices, so that they can in turn empower the locals and promote sustainability.
We love our support team whether its prayer or funds we can't do it without you.
